A sharp crack breaks
through the mixture of English
and French, and the words
fall still for just a moment.
Another insect, too curious,
couldn't resist the neon blue
light and the dangerous coils.
With the second crack, you stop
stirring the pot to glance over,
not yet used to the electrical snap
of moths, mosquitos, and housefiles.
But, soon, you will forget the sound
and only the warning label
will remember that the blue burns
with the strength to clear a room.
