I know it's a mistake
to sit down on the couch
in the oven-warmed kitchen
when my eyelids are heavy,
but I do it without noticing.
Then I lie down on my back
because it is too much effort
to keep my head upright,
and since the telly's off,
I let my eyes slip shut
even though it's a mistake.
I have no regrets.
Wow, Megan, that's classic about falling asleep. Ain't it the truth. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey, could I please feature your blog in my blog? You've been there. I'm writing out of NaPoWriMo days, so a quick response would be wonderful. Thanks!
Loving your work.
Yes, this captures it well!
ReplyDeleteHi again, Megan. Up above, I meant "running out of NaPoWriMo days" not "writing out of" ...
ReplyDeleteI see that Marilyn Cavicchia left a comment above ... she's one of the poets I featured this month, on Day 23.
I hope it was okay that I featured your blog today even though I hadn't heard back; I think you'll like what I wrote about your work. It was very complimentary.
You've visited the blog before, on Day 9. Let me know what you think of the feature. If you don't like it, I'll be glad to remove it. Just let me know.
What I'm hoping, though, is that it will bring you more readers. Take care.
Hi, Vince. I was logging on just to give you permission for the feature.
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words and the promotion. I'll pay back the compliment with today's poem.

I love this poem...I can see why it is a top viewed.
ReplyDeleteYou capture that feeling of sleepness so well and that conscience feeling that you should avoid that couch
Thanks. This one surprised me with its popularity, but I like it.
